This Privacy Policy (the "Policy") sets out how information is handled in the iOS application "Shizuka: Quiet Home Screen" (the "App").
The App does not send the apps you place on your Home Screen, your Screen Time information, or the usage records shown in Review off your device. These are used only on your device.
We run no server, and you do not create an account in the App. We do not collect any information about you. We never obtain your name, email address, phone number, address, location, any identifier of your device, or any usage data.
The only communication the App makes is with Apple's App Store, for purchasing the full version and restoring purchases (section 5).
When you add an app to Breathe (a 10-second breath before an app opens), you open a shared link to a shortcut that we prepared, which is hosted on Apple's iCloud, in the iPhone's Shortcuts app. The Shortcuts app fetches the contents of the link. The App does not send any information about you at that time.
The App stores your settings and usage records only on that device. What it stores is as follows.
The fields for settings the current version does not use are kept so that settings made in development versions can still be read. The current version does not create or change values in these fields, and does not use them. Any values made in a development version stay on your device and are not sent anywhere. A record of "open for 5 minutes" is deleted by the App one day after the time it was due to close again, when a later focus session starts or ends, for example.
Whether to show the date and time bar is used for the widget's display.
The time of the last opening after a breath is used to avoid showing the breath screen again for the same app for 5 minutes after you open it, and to show "Last opened ... ago" on the breath screen. The time the breath screen appeared and the app are used to show how many times you tried to open that app today; entries older than 8 days are deleted the next time something is recorded. The running total of times you stopped is used to decide when to show the App Store review request. Whether the first-time note has been shown is used to add a short note only the first time the breath screen appears. The apps that skip the breath screen are used so the breath screen does not appear when you open those apps. While "Use Breathe" is off, the breath screen does not appear for any app. When you view the breath screen with "Try it", no time or count is recorded.
The date and time the trial ends is used to return you to the free version at that time. Whether you have received the trial decides whether the purchase screen offers the trial. The date and time the purchase record was last checked is used to decide how long the full version keeps working when the App Store's purchase record cannot be read for a while.
The date and time the trial-ended notice was shown and the date and time the review request was shown are each used to show them only once. To keep the two from appearing around the same time, the review request is not shown while the notice is expected to appear, nor for 24 hours after the notice is shown. These dates and times are also stored only on your device and are not sent anywhere.
This content is kept in storage on the device (an App Group) that the App itself, the widget, and the Screen Time extensions share. It stays on your device and is not sent to us or to any third party. We cannot see it.
This content is deleted together with the App when you delete the App from your device.
The "Apps to keep closed" used by Focus are chosen by you in a selection screen that Apple provides. The App receives only an iOS-assigned marker that points to each chosen app. The app names and icons shown on the screen are used for display only, inside a frame iOS provides, and are neither stored nor sent. The marker is stored on your device and is never sent off the device.
"Time on phone" and the usage time of your "Most used apps", shown in Review, are drawn inside a frame iOS provides. The usage data does not reach the App itself and never leaves your device. We cannot see this data.
The "Chose not to open" count and "Focus time" shown in Review are recorded by the App on your device (section 2).
If you have iCloud Backup turned on for your device, the data stored on your device as listed in section 2 may be copied to Apple's iCloud as part of the device backup.
This copy is not made by the App. iOS makes it as part of its backup feature. The handling of backed-up content follows Apple's terms. You can change whether backups are made at any time in the iOS Settings app.
The purchase of the full version and the 14-day trial are handled through Apple's App Store. Apple handles payment information, and it is not passed to us. We do not receive or keep payment details such as your credit card number.
Whether the full version is active, and whether you are within the trial period, is decided on your device: the App reads the App Store's purchase record through iOS. The App does not send the purchase record to us or to any third party.
What the App stores on your device is the state (free, on trial, or full version), the date and time the trial ends, whether you have received the trial, the date and time the purchase record was last checked, and the date and time the trial-ended notice was shown (section 2). These are also kept only on your device and are not sent anywhere.
Because we do not collect information about you, we do not share it with third parties either.
We may look at aggregate statistics that Apple provides, which do not identify individuals (such as the number of downloads). Apple produces these statistics. The App does not send information to us.
The App shows no advertising. The App includes no external libraries, including any for advertising or measurement.
The App does not use the advertising identifier (IDFA) and does not track you across other apps or websites. For that reason it does not show the iOS "tracking permission" prompt.
The App asks for your permission through iOS when it uses the following features.
This Policy and the Terms of Use are served by GitHub Pages (GitHub, Inc.). GitHub, Inc., which serves the pages, may keep connection logs from when you view them. We do not obtain those logs and have no way to know that you viewed the pages.
When you open these pages from inside the App, they open in your device's standard browser. The App itself does not fetch the pages.
We may change this Policy when we add or change features of the App. The changed Policy takes effect when it is posted on this page. When we change it, we update the last-updated date at the end of this page.
